To Free or Not to Free Chapter 11
Amy's POV
I slumped against the metal encasing of the vessel, lacing my hands over my
stomach. I had put up a fight for a bit, but I tired out quickly, turns out pregnancy
took a lot more than your figure. He realized I wasn't up for a struggle, and shoved
me into a closet where I only had some dryer lint and dust bunnies to act as
companionship. I missed Sonic. This wasn't Eggman, it was some hedgehog who
had no background, just a masked sinister figure cloaked in the shade of his own
mystery. I knew nothing about it, and with a sinking feeling I remembered Sonic
didn't either. This must have been the rouge Eggman mentioned, and from what
little I could gather about this guy, I honestly doubted he was the type to be in
cahoots with a joke of a genius. I leaned back my head, letting it rest against the
cold unwelcoming metal, the whole room seemed to be stained a heartless
depression of blue, and I longed to be back within the warmth and radiance of a very
different blue, the heroic cobalt that was home. Maybe it would be better this way;
Sonic would never know about L.S. at least, depending on this guy's objective. I
shifted my thoughts to the issue at hand, the sting of anger bristling through my fur.
Who did this guy think he was anyway? He could be an enemy of Sonic's, I had been
used as bait before…but the vibe he gave off… I shook my head and felt a small tap
on my hand.
"We'll be okay, L.S." I smiled weakly, and a stronger kick came as a reply.
The door made no sound to alert me to the intruder, and I looked up into the
shadowed face of my kidnapper.
Sonic's POV
I whipped my head around face him.
"What did you do that for?" I growled.
He looked up, his eyes seemed to be laced with the intensity of fire, with a glaze of
ice, lava ready to erupt held back by a thin exterior of cool indifference.
"You wouldn't have reached her anyway."
"What'd you say?" I knew I was starting to sound like Knuckles, but not only had I
been stopped, I didn't have time, I didn't pay enough attention…I wasn't fast enough,
and that's what stung the most.
He started walking away without even the decency to spare a glance over his
shoulder.
"Hey!" I sped in front of him, blocking his path. "Why'd you stop me?"
He reminded me of Shadow, the same stare that scrutinized the world, his eyes
taking brief seconds out of his time to focus on you and even then he wore an
expression that made you feel like a nuisance, regarding you like the most
insignificant life form on the planet that better have a good excuse for interrupting
him, not that you were worth enough to kill anyway, or if he did, he wouldn't think
twice about the act.
"Follow me."
I paused for a moment before following. As mad as I was I knew this guy wasn't
going to give me any answers unless I complied.
Amy's POV
I glared into his face, shock quickly being replaced by anger. "Just who do you think
you are?!"
A smirk formed on his lips, the sinister curve played upon the contrast of his eyes. I
held back a gulp as I tried to force the anger not to give way to fear. This definitely
wasn't Eggman. I'd dealt with villains before, and never feared them, but this guy,
was cold, he wasn't evil in the sense he did bad things for the hell of it, he was dark
down to his core; he had his own objectives, and I was positive I didn't want to know
what they were.
"You don't really want to know my name do you?" Sarcasm dripped from his voice,
heavy and thick.
"Don't fuck with me." I growled it out, my anger returning full force.
He raised a suggestive eyebrow. "Ah, a fighter. I like them feisty." His grin remained,
amusement dancing in his eyes.
I glared. "Sonic will get me."
"You're boyfriend." He wasn't asking.
I ignored him. "Sonic will find you, they all will, then you'll be screwed.
"We'll see."
"What do you want with me anyway?" I cringed as the fear leaked into my voice, like
a broken faucet.
"You're female."
I tilted my head to get a better angle to face him. "No kidding. So?"
His smile faltered a liitle. "So, I'm going to use you for the only thing you're good
for."
I shuffled my feet against the ground, pressing my back up against the steel of the
cargo hold and watched his feet as he crept closer on silent footsteps.

Sonic's POV
The hedgehog stopped suddenly, and had I not been used to stopping on a dime, I
would have crashed into him. He turned around to face me, eyes tracing my
expression. "We're here."
I glanced around to see exactly where 'here' was. The moon cascaded a shallow
light onto the ground up pavement of a dark alleyway, highlighting some eerie
buildings that made the foundation for the narrow path filled with dumpsters and
forgotten belongings. I sat down at the edge of a fire the hedgehog had stoked
among garbage in a trashcan.
"What's your name?"
He looked up at me for a moment, the flames reflecting in his face. "Lance." He said
simply before returning his gaze to the fire.
"I'm Sonic." I replied, holding my hand out to meet his, which was halfway between
picking up a can of hairspray and throwing it in the smouldering fire. He stared at it
for a moment before looking at me face, then taking my hand in a rough grip for a
shake.
I leaned back on my hands, which probably would have been cut by shards of a beer
bottle were it not for the protection my gloves offered.
"Get some sleep." Lance instructed, but he didn't make a move to do so himself.
I sighed. Amy, please be all right.
